Converting Car from nfs4 to nfs3 This tutorial covers the conversion of a car from nfs4 to nfs3. There is not much difference in the format but just we will rename the parts, join some of them and and convert the mesh from nfs4 format to nfs3 format.
I have attached a Zmodeler file here which we will convert to nfs3. Open this car in Zmodeler. The parts of the car you see in the index are,
1. Select :HB, :ORM and :OLM by right clicking on their names and then on the main menu, select Create > Objects > UniteSelect
2 .Now click on the car in any viewport except 3D, and a dialog appears. Name the new united object "HIGH BODY" and click OK.
3. Now we will rename the wheels to meet the requirements of nfs3. You will do this by right click on object name and Order > Move Up/Move Down
Now re-arrange the parts as follows
4. Export the file to NFS fce format.. Converting Mesh Format: Now we will convert mesh format from nfs4 to nfs3. Without converting format, we will not be able to import the mesh in viv wizard and play with it. We will do this by using NFS FCE Converter which u can download from tools area here. Open the application. It will look like this.
Click on the button "Open NFS:HS..."
and browse for the fce you just saved. Import Damage: This button have no use in this tutorial because this imports the damaged version of the car for need for speed 4. NFS3 has no car damage functions so it is useless here. Driver Movements: This is a utility used to assign the movements to the driver. As we have no driver in our car, so it is also useless. Well, I will tell you how to use it. Right now if u click it, it will tell u that there's no driver object in the file. The name of driver object is :OD. Let say this is present in the file. When u click the button, it will show u the mesh of driver in vertices mode. Some are green/blue and some are red. The vertices which are red, are assigned as moveable and green are immoveable. You can select yourself by clicking the vertices which are moveable. Color Editor: In this area, u can choose/edit colors of the car. They may vary a little but in game. Ok, now save the file to nfs3 format by clicking on button, "Save NFS:3..." and name it car.fce Congrats, you have successfully converted the mesh to nfs3. Close the application. Converting TGA File: It is some tricky. When converting from nfs4 tga to nfs3 tga, we have to give a vertical flip to either tga file or both RGB and Alpha Files and then compile them as Car00.TGA. For making a TGA file, refer to TGA Tutorial. Getting Car Ingame: Please read the NFS Wizard tutorial. Getting car ingame using VIV Wizard for NFS3 is same.
