TGA Making Tutorial
May you already know about making a TGA image in Photoshop. But this
tutorial will show you how to create a TGA compatible with NFS cars, NFS
Hot Pursuit and High Stakes cars. There Alpha Channel plays a basic role
in texturing cars.
ok lets start....
- In order to make a TGA file you need to know something about it.
- Need For Speed uses TGA of resolution 256x256 or 512x512 or multiple
of 2. Any other resolution won't read by the software.
- The TGA file uses two images. RGB and Alpha.
- In the following images... Car.bmp is RGB and Car Alpha.bmp is Alpha
Image.
- In Alpha image you see only three colors. White, Grey and Black.
- TGA uses white for Opaque and Black for Transparent and Grey for
semitransparent.
- The semitransparent color is of vital importance in finishing car as
colors only display on semitransparent one.
- Keep the same value of gray in alpha channel which u used in RGB
channel.
RGB Channel
Alpha Channel
- Save the above two images according to their caption.
- Open TGA Maker.
- From File menu, browse Car.Bmp file.
- In Tools > Alpha Channel, click on "Load From File"
and browse "Car Alpha.Bmp" file.
- You will some like this.
- The grey + white patches is Transparency Checkerboard.

If this is it ... then you have done it correctly.
Now simply save it as Car00.tga.
Remember that Car.fce uses Car00.tga, Car1.fce uses Car100.tga and so
on...
NFS 3 TGA File:
Simple give these images a vertical flip and we will be able to use
